Birthday: Day 10

Day 10:I made a treasure map with directions to a location where I have a surprise for my boyfriend. I can't go into much more detail than that right now.

Day 9:

Nightmare Before Christmas Pumpkin King T-Shirt

My boyfriend and I both really like The Nightmare Before Christmas. He's gotten me a lot of NBC presents so I thought it was time I got him something too. I got this at Hot Topic, there were a few to chose from but I liked this one the best (I hope Trevis likes it too). I think that the middle of Jack sort of looks like a heart. I think it will look cute on him.

Birthday: Day 8

Day 8:

Pictures

There are a lot of pictures of Trevis and I together but they were all digital so you'd have to be on a computer to look at them. I'd never ordered prints of digital photos before but I found a coupon for 50 free prints from Snapfish and I decided to give it a try. I really like Snapfish. It was a very easy process and the pictures are good quality. I have some of the pictures around my room and I'm going to cut some smaller ones to fit into my locket soon. For Trevis's I went to the dollar store and got frames then I decorated them. For one I used wooden letters (also found at the dollar store) that I colored with sharpies and glued onto the frame, another I decorated foam cut into pieces (a dollar store find too), and the rest with stick on jewels I found at Michael's. I also used the foam as matting for some of the pictures that didn't fit into the frames perfectly. Snapfish gives you and option to keep the original deminsions of the photo or to have it cut to 6x4. I decided to keep the original deminsions and to mat the photos myself. I wanted to give him some wallet size prints too but I didn't want them to get messed up so I got a little wallet-sized picture holder to keep them in. I hope he likes having picture of us to put in his room as much as I do.

Birthday: Day 7

Day 7:

Fliers

My boyfriend makes music, there are free tracks up for download on Last.fm if you want to check them out. I like to listen to it when I'm working. It's great for when you're doing crafty/ artsy stuff. I decided that he needed some fliers to promote his music and his website. So I made a few then went and made copies. I had a few more ideas but ran out of time, I may make some more in the future.

Sorry these are pictures instead of scans.

Birthday: Day 6

Day 6:

Comic

I made a tiny comic out of one piece of paper. You can find tutorials on how to make one on YouTube. It's pretty simple. I'm not very good at drawing. I used to be a little bit better when I was taking art classes in school. It's been ages since I've tried to draw anything besides little doodles. I did buy a sketch book a few weeks ago so that I can try to practice again and get better. Drawing a comic was a bit hard when I was so rusty but I got it done. It might looks a bit messy and childish but as long as you can tell what the drawings are supposed to be I'm happy with it. I didn't get any good pictures of the inside, they all turned out blurry. I wish I had a scanner, oh well.

Day 5:

Nightmare Before Christmas Lamp

Since Trevis doesn't have a lamp in his room I decided to make him one. All I used was two picture frames, clothes pins, a picture, a nightlight, an extension chord, glue, and tape. I got the idea out of The Big-Ass Book Of Crafts. It's a really awesome book with lots of great ideas. I think the lamp turned out pretty cool and I'm thinking of making some more. It was really easy.

I made a bit of a mess.

Day 4:

Pirate Puzzle

I spent ages trying to find a puzzle I liked to use for this gift. I finally found this one. I thought it was really cool because it went with a treasure map that told you all about different pirates. I didn't just get him a puzzle though. I put it together and wrote a secret message on the back then broke it up again for him to solve.

Birthday: Day 3

Day 3:

Scooby SnacksMy boyfriend really likes Scooby-Doo and commented about how it's weird that they don't sell Scooby Snacks as cookies in stores. They do actually, and I wanted to get him a box as a surprise but when I tried to find some to buy I couldn't find them anywhere! I did a search on Walmart's website and it told me there wasn't a store within 100 miles that sold them. After that I decided to take matters into my own hands. I went to Michael's and got a plain tin, some Scooby stickers, and a dog bone shaped cookie cutter. I wrote "Scooby Snacks" on the tin with sharpies I already had.

You can find the recipe I used for the cookies here. I added in cinnamon. It says the wont spread out but mine still did.

This was the result.

Birthday: Day 2

Day 2:

Igloo Tin and The Pebble and the Penguin DVD

My boyfriend and I both have matching tiny penguins that we gave to each other. They're named after the penguins Marina and Hubie from the movie The Pebble and the Penguin, which is one of his favorites from when he was little. I wanted to make his little Hubie-penguin an igloo to live in. I used a mint tin and some Sculpey (thanks Kim for suggesting it!) and some sharpies to make it. The movie is about Adelie Penguins and their mating ritual of the male penguins giving the female penguins a pebble so I made a little pebble to go inside. On the inside I wrote the lyrics from Now and Forever from the movie's soundtrack.

"We will grow old together
Cozy in cold together
We'll try our best together

Further our nest together
We'll be a pair forever
Learning to share forever

Now and forever
As sure as the snow
As long as the ocean roars
I'll love you in a way that
I'll never begin to outgrow
I'll now and forever be yours"

The outside of the igloo.

The pebble. Please excuse my dirty hands I'd been working on some other crafty stuff before I took the picture.

I couldn't get a decent picture of the inside. The wrapping paper.

Birthday: Day 1

I'm giving my boyfriend ten birthday presents over a period of ten days. I'm going to share them all with you here after he gets them.

Day 1:

ThinkGeek's LED Shower Light

He has been talking about wanting one of these for almost a year. I know he probably couldn't justify spending the money on himself to get one so I got it for him. It's really cool. The light starts out blue then once the water reaches 89 degrees it turns to red so you know it's safe to step into the water. The coolest part to me is that it doesn't need any batteries to run. It's completely powered by the water that runs through it.

I made wrapping paper for all the presents. I wasn't exactly sure what to draw on the paper for this one so I did two swirls in the color of the lights.

Sorry

Sorry I've disappeared for so long. Last week my internet wasn't working for a few days and that set me behind a bit. This week is my boyfriend's only week off in between his Spring and Summer semesters at school (he's crazy smart) so I've been spending everyday with him that I can. I have some cool posts coming up. I'm going to try to do some reviews of the Personal Trainer: Cooking Nintendo DS game, SousChef (it's a program for Macs that stores your recipes and does some other cool things), and a computer game called World of Goo. I just realized my boyfriend gave me all those things. He's so sweet. After those I should be able to post about some crafty things I've been up to. I have to wait until after I give them to my boyfriend for his birthday since he reads this too. I'm really excited to share them with you. I hope everyone is having a great week. I'll try my best to be back soon!
