Dragon Fruit Taste Test

My mom and my aunt went to an international market over the weekend. While they were there my aunt bought a dragon fruit for my mom to give to me. Apparently one of my little cousins likes it a lot so she thought I might too. It's a really pretty and impressive looking fruit. My boyfriend and I cut it open and tried it. It didn't really taste like much of anything, which was kind of disappointing. I'm going to try it again and see if I like it any better, but from what I could tell it just tasted like really weak kiwi. My mom also brought home some tiny tiny bananas. I love them. They're just like normal bananas but they're bit size, which is perfect because I can hardly ever finish a normal size banana.

Road Trip to National Parks

This past month, we finally got a chance to take a long-awaited road trip through many of the National Parks in the southwest. Shelby, my daughter, has posted photos to her blog, recapping our adventures out west. My personal fave was Bryce Canyon National Park. If you’ve never gone to some of these parks, I highly recommend it, as we had a great time and enjoyed the time spent together.

This is one of the many postcards we collected from our trip. The art is based on posters from the WPA’s Federal Art Project (1935-43).

Music Video Monday: I Can't Stop Listening to The Dandy Warhols

I don't know how long I'm going to be on this Dandy's kick, probably the whole summer. I just can't stop. They're addicting. I'm going through a bunch of their cover songs right now. I love them, especially their version of Relax. If you can find it listen to it, it's amazing. I should probably get their new album soon but I'm still working through all their older stuff. I keep finding more and more songs to love.

My favorite song right now: Mission Control

I have a thing for space if you haven't noticed by now and this song and video seemed like the perfect way to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Mission and moon landing. Enjoy! ^_^

Happy Bunday!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I've been really busy between school work and trying to completely clean out my room. I'm hoping to be back posting regularly soon. In the meantime enjoy the bunny!

Music Video Monday (Tank Girl Style) : Gorillaz- Feel Good Inc.

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend. I just stayed in with my boyfriend and watched a movie. I mentioned that I wanted to watch Tank Girl on Twitter awhile back and my boyfriend surprised me with a copy. I'd seen it once before but he never had so we watched it and ate Jiffy Pop. I know some people hate it and say it's not as good as the comics but I love it in all it's campy glory. The music in it is great. Courtney Love was the music director so it's full of awesome 90s stuff. I'd really love to have some of the comics they look like a lot of fun. The original artist, Jamie Hewlett, is a co-creator of the Gorillaz. You can definitely see a lot of similarities in the art work.

Last Weekend

So this past weekend I went all over the place with my boyfriend. On Friday we went to a baseball game (Braves vs. Red Sox). Before the game we stopped by the mall to grab something to eat and waste some time. While we were walking around looking at different stores I heard a bird chirping inside. I went to look for it and found it on the ground by a big window trying to get outside. I don't know how long the poor thing was there but it seemed really tired and confused because it was letting me walk right up to it. I went to a shoe store and asked for a box. I scooped up the little bird and took it outside. It flew away and looked like it was ok. It really bothers me that no one else had tried to help the little thing. It seemed to me like it had been there a really long time because it was so tired.

On Saturday we stopped by the dollar store and found a bunch of CDs. Normally they have weird compilations but on this day they had actual albums. We ended up getting Less Than Jake, Barenaked Ladies, Phish, and a Disney CD that had bluegrass versions of Disney songs. I think we got 7 CDs in all. It was pretty awesome. I got some really really yummy chapstick too. It's Bubblicious Strawberry Splash. I love chapstick (I used to eat it when I was little >.<). I was really getting sick of the other chapstick I was using. It has SPF in it which I know is good for you but I couldn't stand the taste. On Sunday we went to my boyfriend's nephew's birthday party. It was fun. I wish I could read in the car. It would make long car trips so much easier but it makes me feel so sick if I even think about trying.

On Monday (I know it's not technically the weekend but it kinda was for me) we went to a store that was having a sale where whatever you could fit in a grocery bag was $15. It was really cool I got a lot of cute new stuff. Trevis didn't find very much because there wasn't much there for guys but he got three new shirts. When I got home I had a message waiting for me tellng me that I had won a Think Geek contest. I won a Giant Swiss Army Knife which costs $999. I really couldn't believe it. I'm so excited. The next day I won a Shamu hoodie. I guess I've just been lucky lately...

This is what the knife looks like. It's just slightly insane.
