Goodbye

It is the last day of 2010, and tomorrow marks a new year. It has been a fruitful 2010, with me achieving some of my goals. Hopefully more will come next year.

How we are going to celebrate tonight? I do not think it will be much celebration, just a lovely dinner with my family. We discovered Baby boy developed chicken pox last night so at doctor's advice, we will try to avoid public places. Luckily he is not having any fever and still much an active boy. After all, we have spent great times during Christmas Day. We had nice Italian dinner on Christmas Eve and on Christmas night itself we have Japanese dinner.....so New Year Eve would be a modest affair for us.

A Scott Pilgrim Christmas: Day 19

Ramona: I guess that's my problem - I'm always trying to beat the clock, outrun the universe. Like nothing can change me, as long as I change first.
The candy...

The gift...

I found this nifty rocket ship at Michael's and couldn't resist buying it and re-purposing it (it's supposed to be a bird house). Since it has a tiny hole I thought it would be fun to make it into a subspace rocket clock. I wanted to make sure the colors were super bright like Ramona's hair. I'm hoping to eventually change the clock to a retro looking digital one but I haven't been able to find one that I really love yet. The actual clock face is surrounded by foam and easily pops in and out so it shouldn't be hard to change in the future.

Rest at home

Dad has finally checked out from hospital on Friday afternoon. Doctor gave him medication for his condition. He is diagnosed with a small growth in his neck near the lympha node. That thinggie (which doctor will monitor from month to month during his monthly check-up) has caused my dad's hormone to increase to 300 plus (which is not so good) and his loss of appetite and sometimes having fever and dizziness.

So now dad is recovering at home as he could not do much. Walk for a short distance, he will complain dizziness. Sit for a while, he will complain his stomach not feeling well. He has lost 5kg since November as he did not eat much due to stomach discomfort. Just hope that he will get well and that benign is nothing but non cancerous.

A Scott Pilgrim Christmas: Day 18

Ramona: It's just, like, this really convenient subspace highway happens to go through your head.

Stars have become sort of a symbol in our relationship. The first present I ever gave my boyfriend was a box filled with 100 origami stars on the hundredth day we were together. Ever since then I've given him a lot of other star related gifts (including a bottle filled with 365 stars on our one year anniversary). I found this sparkly star box and filled it up with glow in the dark stars. They may be a bit childish but I wanted to get him some of these stars so that we could go star gazing in our own subspace even if it's cloudy out.

A Scott Pilgrim Christmas: Day 16

Kim: You suck at drawing, don't you?
Scott: Maps are hard! I could draw it really good if it was a sheep.
Kim: A sheep?? Are you serious? Draw me a sheep!

The gift...

I decided for this gift I would send my boyfriend on a quest to find *dramatic music* a new wallet!! He's been using the same one since middle school and it's slowly falling apart. I didn't want to pick out a wallet for him because I know it's the kind of thing he'll want to look at himself in the store so I thought making it into a quest would be fun. I drew him a video game style map and included and envelope with his "Inventory" otherwise known as money :P

My Joys at Christmastime

I have recently learned about a quilters magazine that wrote a little blurb about the Christmas fabric collection that I did with Northcott, The 12 Joys of Christmas. This magazine is Quilters Newsletter (QuiltersNewsletter.com) and the issue is December/January 2011, page 30.

This collection has such sentimental value to me as it really does showcase the joys our family has this time of year. The holiday season will always be filled with gifts, but so many of the gifts this family receives are those of family time together, memories we are making for our kids to look back on, and our own treasured memories of our childhood with family and friends throughout our past. No beautifully wrapped box with a wonderful gift inside can ever replace the cherished moments we share with those we love.

The 12 Joys of Christmas collection does bring me joy, but this season I remixed the color palette to reflect my Sheri Berry color style and every time I get to put a little pink into anything, the joy is enjoyed by me even more. Here are some holiday cards in the new re-pink-mix colorway.

Take this season to find joy in every moment and with every person you spend this holiday with. Have a blessed and joyous season.

What a week!

Sorry for not much updating lately. Have been nothing but emotional exhausted and physically busy.

This week is a very hectic week. Flying out and in, spending a night in KL and dad admitted to hospital on the day I flew was enough to make me feel down.

On Sunday evening, I broke one of my teeth while eating chicken rice in Hainan's Street! S**t! I haven't got time to fix it yet. So everytime I drink water (cold, hot or lukewarm) I can feel the pain in that particular tooth. Hope to be able to visit a dentist tomorrow once everything is settled down.

On Monday, I went to KL accompany hubby's cousin for an interview there. We stayed for a night. Luckily no delay in Air Asia flight. We reached the LCCT around 7.15pm. Throughout the flight, it has never been bored as cousin and I chatted all the way. We did not feel how the time flies that fast. Then we used the bus down to KL Sentral and taxi to our hotel. We reached the hotel around 9pm and after throwing our luggage, we headed straight to Jalan Alor for our dinner. Phew! I even bought some bbq bacon slices from Loong Kee for hubby.

The next day, after cousin's interview finished around 1115am, we headed to Sungei Wang via LRT and spent almost 2 hours there before we headed to LCCT for our flight back. I did not spent much but bought 2 dresses there. Since hubby bought lots of clothing for the kids when he went to Johor last month I did not buy anything for the kids.

As for yesterday, after a busy morning at the shop, I visited my dad who admitted to Normah Hospital since Monday. Doctor could not find anything wrong with my dad who complained of dizziness and loss of appetite since he came back from his Indonesia trip last month. He lost so much weight since then but thank god he started to eat solid food for past few days. There is still no green light from doctor on when he could check out as doctor wanted him to stay for further observation. Luckily he can claim his insurance for the stay-in. As for my mum, she is supposed to fly to Singapore with my sister to attend my cousin's wedding tomorrow. By right, she would be there by this time, but alas! She has to stay to look after my dad. Hopefully he will be able to check out by this week.

So what a week I have! And next week would be another busy week as it is my stock check week. I think I have to put up a tent in the shop and stay to do the stock check! Lol!

A Scott Pilgrim Christmas: Day 15

Knives: Seriously, are you wearing, um, a tan jacket? Like a spring jacket? And a hoodie?
Scott: Yes...
Knives: And a dorky hat!!
Scott: It's not dorky! And I'm scared! Why are you psychic?

The gift...

My boyfriend has wanted this 8-bit Tie from ThinkGeek for really long time. I think it's super cute and fits with the old school video game-ness of Scott Pilgrim.
