Bananas Are For Monkeys | Gainomax

A new commercial for Gainomax Recovery features a sad football team, a fascination with bananas, the official "Monkeys" cheerleaders...equally pathetic and a reminder that banana's are for monkeys. See The cheerleaders in action below.

Adoption Update!

While the steps are small we have made a few over the past 6 months and are ready to share them with y'all! There were 3 countries we felt drawn to and with much prayer and research we believe our little girl is in India. There are a million reasons why but what it truly comes down to is that it has been carved in our hearts. Unshakably. Selah is there and we are starting the journey to bring her home.

We have been in contact with with America World Adoption over these months and they have been a great source of information and encouragment. Last week we had a phone conference with them and it was decided that to move as quickly and smoothly as possible it would be ideal for us to have the first of three installments ready to be paid in full. Gulp! We can't begin seeking grants or donations until we are in the "system" so this first installment will take us time to aquire. But our God is faithful and He wouldn't call us to something impossible. We are forging ahead and believing that we will have the first installment sooner than later.

The boys have been included in many conversations about their little sister and while Jack doesn't fully understand, Will does. He asks daily about her and loves to sing our theme song for this adoption at the top of his lungs. I love his tender heart, he will be such a protector of her.

That's what we have for now. I will keep doing these posts as we move forward and while we don't know the timeframe for how long this journey will be I am praying you'll see these posts pop up more often than not. Please pray that with us!

We can't thank everyone enough for the support, prayers and love that is surrounding us as we search for our daughter! Y'all are wonderful!

A Man Gives Birth for Oxfam

Do you really notice 0.05%? Clearly not. However, what the financial world will do in order to avoid paying the 0.05% financial transaction tax is horrendous. Although small, this tiny tax could do so much good. With the support of famous German actress Heike Makatsch, Oxfam Germany underlines the importance of the tax and the stinginess of the bankers through M&C Saatchi, Berlin.

The bar just happens to be the local watering hole for the local cops...the great chase ensues, and of course the bad guys win...it's worth the 90 seconds you'll spend watching it.

A Cupcake for Lunch

Problem: You are four years old. (OK just kidding with that....but not really hehehe) So the problem is you want a cupcake for lunch (which I completely understand have never experienced said problem)

Enter the Lunch Punch Sweet Set (as Eliana says: "to save the day!") Problem Solved.
So instead of an actual cupcake we made a cupcake sandwich :)
Using the cupcake cutter from the Lunch Punch Sweet Set we made this cute cupcake lunch.

We decided to make it a chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting. Inside the sandwich is chocolate soynut butter with fluff (make your own fluff if you dare). I put some more chocolate soynut butter on top to make it look like a chocolate cupcake. For the vanilla "frosting" I used the Lunch Punch cutter on a piece of cheese. We thought adding confetti sprinkles would be fun :)

The cherry and the mini cupcakes are cut with organic fruit leather.

I used one of the crusts that Eliana didn't eat and put it as the plate.

I'll have you know that she munched on veggies while we made this. So no need to bring the veggie police here ;)

This is almost better than a real cupcake. Almost.

And a quick shoutout to my friend Kristen of Pixelated Crumb
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Here is your cupcake.. that we ate for you ;)

This was so easy to make. Which is why I love Lunch Punches.  They are simply one of the easiest ways to make a plain sandwich into creative food in seconds. I have the Lunch Punch Sweet Set and I have two more on the way! I can't wait to play with them all! Yes-- I do mean play! It is part of the fun Eliana and I have in the kitchen together :)

Here is what I used to make this lunch:

Be Kind Wednesday: Comparison

Source
Hello hello sweet readers! Happy Be Kind Wednesday to you! If this is your first time here, I take Wednesdays as a time to refocus myself and my family, smothering the day in love, acts of kindness and lots of extra grace. Since I've started this I've seen huge changes in how the rest of our week plays out. A mid-week refocus keeps this momma happy and content. Hope you join me!

Comparison. Ugh! It's a dangerous thing and I know we all struggle with it. Last month as I was preparing for Will's Lego party I scoured Pintrest for ideas, bounced from blog to blog for inspiration, it was fun and I was excited. However, somewhere in the middle of party-prep I could feel the joy seeping out of me. Which if you know me, party-prep is an ultimate high for me ;) I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I couldn't figure out what the problem was but after talking it out with Mr. Doozie I realized that instead of searching for inspiration I ended up comparing. And POP there went my joy!

Especially as woman we are quick to compare and I see it so much in the roles of mothering and being a wife. A blog post that is suppose to debut a new recipe or and idea for a gift should be seen as inspirational but am I the only one who sometimes leaves thinking "wow, that chic has it all together, I'm really slacking as a wife/mom."? Comparison takes so much energy and we all could benefit by putting that energy elsewhere!
Source
I'm not a huge Dr. Seuss fan but I do love this quote. God made us all so different and I love that. Be proud of who you are, what gifts you have, work hard with your hands, love those around you and when comparison comes near to steel your joy, shout NO! Imagine if we stopped comparing ourselves to others and instead cheered each-other on, supported one-another and focused on our own gifts! How very awesome that would be. So today, be YOU, keep comparison at bay and above all find your joy!
Love to you all!

***In Other News***
I'm on Facebook now! (gulp) It is overly confusing, so bare with me as I relearn it all. I'm shocked at how much it has changed in the past few years. The goal of the FB page is to help update people with what's new in the Etsy shop, help with giveaways and give updates on the adoption (which, yes we have some updates! Look for a blog post on Friday about that!).

Jane Pain | What You Can't See Is All You Want To See

The Copyranter never lets us down when it comes to discovering some of the most "unique" ad campaigns.

Headline: "What you can´t see is all you want to see."

It's such a simple trick, but it does turns the usual boring beauty shot lingerie campaign into something provocative.

Jane Pain is a high-end Spanish brand of lingerie, bathing suits, and accessories.

The photography is by Natasha Ygel.

The campaign won the 2012 Lapiz de Oro, Argentina's highest advertising prize, and the Gran Prix de Bronce Clarín.

What do think? Creative? Or cringe-inducing?

Costume Clubhouse fun!

Hello again, Brooke here from SillyMamaQuilts with some fun project ideas using Sheri’s Costume Clubhouse fabric line. I used this super cute panel for several ideas.
My first thought was to leave the panel as is and have my long-arm quilter quilt some spider webs and spiders in the panel -
love how this idea played out!!
I used the large purple and black polka dots from this line for the binding.
I then cut 2 and 2.5 inch strips from all of the fabrics in this line to use in my next two projects.
I thought some mini-quilts or lunch mats using fussy cut panel pieces would be another way to use this panel.
Here is my square with strips ready to quilt and bind.
I quiilted an off center circle to look like a spider web.
Notice how a different arrangement of strips can alter the size.
I really thought the stripe fabric makes great binding for these small projects.
I have plans to make some additional pieces, so I'll be sure to share those too. Hope you enjoyed seeing a few ideas using this fun Halloween fabric. Happy Sewing!

Mark of the Master | A Bacardi Dragonberry Film

Fitzroy was asked to develop a campaign for Bacardi Dragonberry. A campaign aimed at regaining the interest of our target group in the Bacardi brand and product. Horitaka is a renowned and highly respected Japanese Tattoo Master that gained his ‘Hori’ title after perfecting his skill and style to his master Hiroyoshi III for 10 years. For that reason, during the 8th and 9th of September, Amsterdam will be a haven for Horitaka and his pop-up tattoo shop in the heart of Amsterdam's Red Light District.

"All From One Place" Commercial for Mercedes-Benz Mbrace2

Introducing mbrace2, the most comprehensive cloud-based telematics system on the road today. No matter where the road may take you, the new Mercedes-Benz mbrace2™ system lets you stay connected and stay in touch all from one place: your Mercedes-Benz.

Mercedes-Benz introduces us to the Mbrace2 Telematics System with this new TV ad entitled "All From One Place". The commercial puts a Benz owner in various scenes from a stadium full of fans, in front of a burning house, on a stock exchange floor, in the middle of violent storm, at a party and on a date while he explains to us how the system helps him optimize his daily life with sports information, weather, business news, restaurant listings and such...all from the comfort of his shiny new Mercedes.

The system actually has some very cool features like "Travel Zones" and "geo-fences" the Curfew Minder, Driving Journal, Speed Alerts, Valet Protect and Remote Horns & Lights. It also has "Mercedes Benz Apps," a suite of in-vehicle versions of social media platforms as well as things like Google Local Search. The company says it also includes update software that automatically updates apps via the cloud...not too shabby at all, so they've basically installed your smartphone into the dash of your car.

Dining next to the river

I love to have dinner in Anchor House which is situated in TJ Delight, Jalan Bayor Bukit.  Not that it is just a walk from my shop but the dishes are pretty homey and cheaper.

TJ Delight is located next to the Tabuan Jaya river.  Although the sight of the river is not appealing (due to rubbish and muddy water) but once a while you can still spot people rowing sampan along the river.  And on good evening, it would be very breezy and cooling to have dinner in the open air environment.

As for Anchor House, we love its fried chicken which is very tasty and juicy.  Its roasted piglet is famous but you need to pre-order because they do not serve it every day.

Almost every Sunday we would have our family dinner there.  Since the kids do not eat much, we do not order much dishes.

Last Sunday we woke up late and after sending some boxes and stuff to new house and checking on the house work progress, we have late breakfast of kolok mee in Hong Garden Cafe.  After our breakfast which is almost 12noon, we went home and had our afternoon nap. By the times the kids and hubby woke up, it is already 5pm. We had our dinner in Anchor House around 6.15pm before proceed to the shop.

Fried chicken (half portion)

Steamed fish

Stir fried paku in belacan.  ( I still prefer its belacan kangkong)

Japanese tauhu with minced meat in oyster sauce

Easy Photo Art Tutorial

This is one of those ideas that comes out of late night perusing on Pintrest. Below are two ideas that I found and loved and as I drifted off to sleep my Pintrest-filled dreams combined these two pins and I woke up knowing this had to be done! The wall art below on the left actually uses wooden frames, and the blog post on it is fun to read, check it out! The wood blocks on the right use Mod Podge and well...I love me some Mod Podge, plus the blocks are super cute for little hands :) Hello brilliant Christmas idea! I have a set of pictures of the boys that really needed to be displayed on a wall and I loved the look of the wood frames, but not the price tag. So when I found the wood plaques at Michael's, I knew I could use the technique from the wood block tutorial and ta-da and gorgeous way to display my pictures at a fraction of the cost!
Source/Source
What You Will Need:
Wooden Plaques (I found them at Michael's for about $1-$2 each)
Paint (I had Chalk Paint on hand but really any kind will work)
Paint Brush (The wider the better)
Sand Paper (220 grit)
Mod Podge (I used the original kind, but next go around I would use Matte so there won't be a glare)
Wide Sponge Brush (The wider the better)
Pictures (Bring the prints with you when you go to buy your plaques; it helps you to choose your size)
Step 1: Lay your plaques on a covered surface
Step 2: Paint each plaque with a single coat of paint, not too thick.
Step 3: While the paint dries, rip the edges of your photos. Start with small rips and continue till you have the size and look you want.

Step 4: Sand the plaques to give them a distressed look, focusing on edges and corners.
Step 5: Wipe the distressed plaques off with a damp cloth to remove any paint dust.
Step 6: Lay the pictures on the plaques and don't be afraid to arrange and rearrange till you find the perfect look.
Step 7: Pour your Mod Podge on a paper plate and coat the plaque (with no picture) once over.
Step 8: Immediately set your picture on the plaque and give the entire thing a second coat, taking care to cover the entire picture (especially the edges). Apply the Mod Podge in one direction that way it will dry nice and clear.
Step 9: Sit back and let them dry! Look how clear they are! Gorgeous!
We've had so much rain and lack of sunlight in the house as of late so please excuse the dark picture! But here they are hung, I used 3M Command strips to hang them. My goal is to cover this entire wall with these frames. I just love the look!
Here is a set I did for our guest bathroom. It also shows you what they will look like if you choose to not distress them. I like the look either way :)
Happy Crafting!
