I am told that we are having a mild winter here. I would like to tell people to please explain that to my little boys who on a daily basis ask when we can set up our slip and slide! Living on the West coast must have thinned our blood because we are freezing here! I grew up in snow, our school busses had snow chains and it was a common thing to wear long underwear underneath your school picture dress! At least that's what my mom told me ;) Either way, I'm surprised at how much I find myself missing that California weather and looking for any signs of spring in the air.
Awhile back I saw a picture on pintrest of a planter filled with succulents. It was gorgeous, reminded me of the West, of the warmth of the desert. I had to make one immediately! This past weekend we came to find out, shopping for succulents in the middle of winter, on the East coast is a bit of a challenge. But I was determined. We found a few hiding in the back of the house plant section of Home Depot. They looked sad and cold and very overwatered, I knew they had to come home with us. I have a soft spot for things in need. Some day I'll tell you the story of our Dora pup.
During naptime Will and I set to work, making a little centerpiece for our table with the succulents we found and some river rock. It turned out so cute and hopefully will welcome spring to this house! Bill says he will remind me of this when I'm crying because the combo of heat and humidity is too much to take come summer. What can I say, I'm picky about my weather!
Hope y'all are having a wonderful Tuesday and staying toasty! If you like the footed bowl I used you can get one here. It was a wedding gift and I have gotten so much use out of it! Don't forget about the February giveaway!
Waiting For Spring
